Attention lovers of classical antiquity!

You are invited to join us for an outstanding, informative 2.5-hour guided walking tour of Pompeii. This visit to the ancient ruins once buried beneath the volcanic debris of Mt. Vesuvius is a must-see when in Rome.

Life as it was in 79 AD can be experienced during a visit to this world-renowned archaeological site. Our tour begins with the Theatre, site of comedies and tragedies that played upon the stage for a middle-class early Empire audience. Then it’s on to the famous Thermal Baths. From dressing rooms to athletic fields, they are models of Roman architecture and art you won’t find elsewhere in the world.

In its day, Pompeii was a bustling port city with a lively cast of characters. Mediterranean sailors frequented bars, restaurants and brothels, while merchants sold their wares in the streets. Everything was for sale from clothing – to slaves. Our shopping walk includes restaurants and wine cellars. We’ll compare prices and learn secret recipes as we continue on our way.

Highlighting our tour is the Forum. Political and religious leaders met with colleagues and created policy in this classical center of temples and public buildings. This was the site of many a ceremony and procession, as well as banking and voting activities.

Getting to Pompeii is easy. Located several kilometers south of Naples and 240 km south of Rome, it can be reached by train (Pompeii Scavi Station). Our professional partners are available to meet you at your hotel, port or the airport.

Our tour is unique. There is no waiting in line for entrance to the historic ruins of Pompeii and you will have a private guide.

We offer discounts for large parties and children. For information and reservations, please contact: info@romecitytours.com

I have to start this review by saying that I absolutely LOVED this tour. My family and I finally made it to Europe and Rome was our 4th and last destination prior to returning to the States. When planning our dream vacation a great friend of ours insisted that there was no other way to make the best of our time in Rome than with a private tour, I personally researched all of our options to ensure we got the best pricing and services possible, which I am happy to say Rome city tours is the best deal out there. Anna was very helpful and patient while completing the booking process, she was very prompt and helped keep me on schedule (planning a 4city / 2country visit was a bit overwhelming). On Good Friday April 18th (busiest week in rome) Lara our actual tour guide was Amazing! She was friendly, patient and above all very knowledgable, she answered all questions we had for her, including some not related to Rome. At first I was a bit concerned of a 6-7 hr tour with a 7yr old, but Lara did such a great job, it felt as if it was only a fraction of the time, no minute was wasted, even when walking from one land mark to the other, Lara Kept us well entertained by pointing out interesting details that we would never have known about. We only realized the distance we had covered, when later that night we tried to venture back to one of the areas we were at earlier, which thanks to Lara and the tour we felt comfortable navigating. I would recommend this company and services to everyone, this is the most enjoyable, organized, informative and efficient way to see Rome, trust me, you will not regret it.

I was so impressed by this company and their Best of Rome tour! We have been to a few different cities in Europe and this was by far one of the best tours I've had. It was a private tour and our guide was very flexible, friendly, and knowledgeable. She really took the time to explain things and make sure we had a great time while learning all about Rome's history and culture. Everything on the tour was amazing and I wouldn't have changed anything. She even took us to a nice Italian restaurant for lunch (which was delicious) and showed us a place to find the best gelato! If you're going to Rome and only have a short amount of time just book the Best of Rome tour! It is worth every penny. And if you have more time then try their other tours too!
