Tivoli was for the Emperors what Camp David is for the US presidents. Our guide will take you on a memorable excursion from Rome to Tivoli visiting the most famous and interesting sites.
Our driver will pick you up at the hotel with a comfortable new vehicle. It is a private tour so you will have a driver and a guide only for you. We will first stop at Villa Adriana, the lavish residence of Emperor Hadrian. It features huge thermal baths, theaters, mosaics, sculptures and other incredible buildings.
We will have lunch on a a breathtaking terrace overlooking Villa Gregoriana, a fascinating park scattered with grottoes, waterfalls and lakes. In the afternoon we will visit the most famous attraction of Tivoli: Villa D'Este. This was the country residence of Cardinal Ippolito. Its gardens are decorated with statues, caves and amazing water games. The living quarters are also magnificently painted by the followers of Michelangelo and Raphael.
On the way back to Rome we will stop at the travertine quarries. For more than two millennia their stone has been extracted to supply important construction works such as the Colosseum and Saint Peter' Basilica in the Vatican. You will fall in love with Tivoli!
