Tour Description

All you need to see in Rome in one full day tour!

If you only have one day to spend in Rome and you want to visit the highlights of the Eternal City then this tour is perfect for you!

The tour starts from the biggest amphitheatre ever built in the antiquity, the Colosseum. We reserve tickets for you and you will not stand in line or waste your precious time in Rome. Your guide will take you directly to the interior seating levels. Outside the Colosseum you will see the Arch of Constantine, built in 315 AD to celebrate the victory of Constantine over Maxentius, three years before.

Our walk continues through the Forum, the central square of Ancient Rome. You will stop by the Arch of Titus, the House of the Vestal Virgins, the Temple of Saturn, the Senate House, the Arch of Septimius Severus, and following the Sacred Way you will reach Capitol Hill. At its feet lies the Vittoriano, the greatest marble monument of modern Italy, built to celebrate the country's unification by its King Victor Emmanuel II.

Only few narrow streets away and we will arrive at the Trevi fountain, the most beautiful fountain in Rome or perhaps, in the world. Here, you will have to throw a coin to secure your safe return to Rome. Only few steps away and we will see the ruins of an Ancient Roman Acqueduct. By following the acqueduct path we will get to the Trevi Fountain, the greatest and most famous fountain in the World, created by Niccolò Salvi in 1735. It is a popular rite to throw a coin in the water in order to secure our return to Rome.

You will have lunch in this area. Your guide will suggest you few excellent places to get a sandwich, an authentic pizza or a proper Italian three-courses meal. After the break our itinerary takes you to the Government district and two main buildings of the Italian Republic: the Parliament and the Palace of the Council of Ministers.

Just in front of the palace, stands the marble Column of Marcus Aurelius, an authentic masterpiece of II century Roman Art.Only a block away, we see the Temple of Hadrian, built by the Emperor Antoninus Pius in honor of his predecessor. Behind the original marble columns the temple hosts the local chamber of Commerce. We take a narrow charming street and we arrive at the Pantheon the best preserved temple of Ancient Rome. The building houses the Tomb of the painter Raphael.

By crossing the Ancient Baths of Nero we arrive in Piazza Navona, the Ancient Stadium built by Emperor Domitian. Today, it is a beautiful elegant square decorated by Bernini and other XVI century masters with churches and fountains, including the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers.

After we cross the Tiber River we reach the Vatican. The last part of your tour is dedicated to a exclusive visit of the Vatican Museums and the Basilica of St. Peter without wasting time waiting in line. You’ll enjoy a hi-quality guided tour of Michelangelo‘s most famous artworks, the Sistine Chapel as well as Raphael's frescoes in the Popes' apartments.

Claire L. with our tour Guide Francesco

"Our group of six ranging in ages from 22 to 82 all loved our walking tour with Francesco. Compared to the tour from another vendor a few years ago, this tour far exceeded any expectations. Francesco's knowledge and pleasant personality made this all day experience most enjoyable and educational. If you want a great tour, Rome City tours are head and shoulders above the rest."
